Central Tokyo 3: Minato

Minato means "port", referring to its seaside location.

It hosts 49 embassies as well as various famous companies, including Fuji Xerox, Mitsubishi Motors, NEC Corporation, Nippon Television, Sony, Toshiba and Honda. These are the most famous spots in Minato:

Tokyo Tower is a 332-meter-tall communications tower for important Japanese media outlets such as NHK, TBS and Fuji TV. Tokyo Tower also functions as a major Tokyo tourist site. Over 2.5 million people annually visit the tower's recreational Foot Town and two observations decks.

Akasaka is one of Tokyo's central business districts, full of corporate headquarters and expensive hotels.

Odaiba is a large artificial island in Tokyo, Japan, featuring many hypermodern and just plain strange buildings. The area is a very popular shopping and entertainment destination.

Roppongi is famous for its nightlife, much of which is geared at foreigners. It includes Roppongi Hills, a massive shopping and dining complex.

One of the newest quarters of the city, almost entirely built after 2000, Shiodome has been transformed from a railway cargo terminal to a miniature city of skyscrapers.
