Beautiful Odaiba

Odaiba is a large artificial island in Tokyo Bay, Japan, across the Rainbow Bridge from central Tokyo.

It was initially built for defensive purposes in the 1800s, dramatically expanded during the late 20th century as a seaport district, and has developed since the 1990s as a major commercial, residential and leisure area.

Today's Odaiba is a popular shopping and sightseeing destination for Tokyoites and tourists alike. Some major attractions include:

  1. Fuji Television studios with its distinctive building
  2. Decks Tokyo Beach shopping mall, featuring Sega Joypolis and Little Hong Kong
  3. Aqua City shopping center
  4. A replica of the Statue of Liberty
  5. One of two beaches in urban Tokyo along with Kasai Rinkai Park
  6. Rainbow Bridge connecting Odaiba to the heart of Tokyo
  7. Venus Fort, a Venice-themed shopping mall
  8. Palette Town Ferris Wheel (height 115 m)
  9. Zepp Tokyo, one of Tokyo's largest performance halls / nightclubs
  10. Tokyo Leisure Land, 24 hour video gaming, karaoke, bowling
  11. Megaweb, exhibition hall of car maker Toyota
  12. Oedo-Onsen-Monogatari (hot springs)
  13. Telekom Center Building with observation deck
  14. Miraikan, Japan's National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation
